フランスはワイン生産国の中でも特に品質の良さが世界に認められている。~
ぶどうの栽培面積；91．7万ヘクタール（世界第２位）~
ワインの年間生産量；575万キロリットル　世界の生産量の約22％を占める。~
ちなみに、ワインの生産量では、~
１．フランス、２．イタリア、３．スペイン、４．アメリカ、５．アルゼンチン
ぶどうの栽培面積では、~
１．スペイン、２．フランス、３．イタリア、４．トルコ、５．アメリカ~
の順となるが、生産量はフランスとイタリアが年によって入れ替わるほどに差が小さい。~
輸出量では、イタリアの方が多い。~

フランスワインは原産地を基準に４つの等級に分けられ、ラベルに記されている。等級の低いものから順に以下のようになる。他にコニャック等の原料用ワインがある。~
-ヴァン・ド・ターブル（テーブルワイン） Vins de Table~
国内及びＥＵ内のほかの国のワインをブレンドして造られる日常ワイン。~
フランスワインの総生産量の約10％を占めている。~
-ヴァン・ド・ペイ Vins de Pays~
生産地、ブドウの品種が限定された地酒。総生産量の約25%。人気は上昇中。~
-上級指定ワイン V.D.Q.S. Vins Délimités de Qualité Supérieure~
全国原産地名称協会（I.N.A.O）の検査に合格した優良品質指定ワインで、南フランスで大量に生産されている。総生産量は１％となる。~
-原産地呼称統制ワイン A.O.C. Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée~
一番の高級ワインの分類になる。地方名（ボルドーなど）を記したもの、その中でも限定地域を記したもの（メドックなど）、さらに村名に限定したもの（マルゴーなど）の順に、表示される地域が小さいほど高級ワインとなっている。ブルゴーニュでは畑名までの限定がある。ボルドー地区ではＡＯＣに加えて格付けが行われている。総生産量の約46％になる。~
