*イールパイ・アイランド Eel Pie Island [#qb40603b]
-ロンドン南西部。うなぎパイの島,テムズ川の中州。~
-今や伝説となった「アール・パイ・ホテル」でその名を知られる。ホテルに付設されたボールルームで、1950年代にはジャズ、60年代になるとロックやＲ＆Ｂのコンサートが催され、ローリングストーンズ、ピンク・フロイド、ザ・フーなどの大物アーティストたちが演奏した。1967年に建物の修繕費が捻出できずにホテルは閉鎖されたが、まもなくクラブとして再開。レッド・ツェッペリンやブラック・サバスなどが舞台に立った。~
-1971年にホテルは不審火で焼け落ちてしまったが、今でもこの島には芸術家やクリエイターたちが住み、自由な雰囲気に満ちている。音楽スタジオがあり、ここを拠点とするミュージシャンも多く、「イールパイ・アイランド出身」は一種のステータスとなっている。kbt~
